This invention concept pertains to an emergency Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic control system for airplane cockpits, that would prevent mid-air collisions and failed landings, in the event that air traffic control systems are down or hacked or damaged on the ground, to ensure that airplanes will still function, properly, and that there are no mid-air collisions, and to ensure that all aircraft can land, safely. This system would provide a screen in every aircraft, to show all of the surrounding aircraft and airports and other air travel related resources, which would update from satellite feeds in real time, showing if there are any dangers in the area, such as approaching or nearby aircraft, or to show any closest nearby airport that could be used to land at, and also provide other ways, other than radios, to communicate, such as with text, to the FAA and air traffic control personnel on the ground, and even with other aircraft in the sky or on the ground.
Patrick R. McElhiney originally discussed this in 2006, with The Pentagon, according to government records.
