A new type of medication that could be developed would be a genetic modifying medication that removes a person’s allergies, such as allergies to peanuts, or animals, or other types of allergies. The reason that this medication is so important to develop is because it could save a lot of lives from dying due to allergic reactions. This medication is possible with current inventions of medications such as Aimovig, Ajovy and Emgality, which target or bind to the CGRP (calcitonin-gene-related peptide) protein. If researches can find a similar neurotransmitter for specific allergies within our genes, it is entirely possible to develop a medication that could suppress that allergy. This would mean that millions of allergy sufferers would no longer need to be connected at the hip to their Epipen.
